Let’s vibe through New Zealand—no maps, just magic!

There is only one word for New Zealand – epic! Written by Nitika Panchal
When most people think of New Zealand, they imagine stunning national parks, the cute Kiwi bird, or epic Lord of the Rings scenery. And they’re not wrong! But there’s so much more to this amazing country. Let’s find out what makes it truly special:
A Glimpse into Māori Culture
One of the things I’m most excited to experience is the astonishing Māori culture. One of the best ways to see it in action? The haka – a traditional Māori dance that’s full of strength and emotion. You might’ve seen it performed by the All Blacks, New Zealand’s national rugby team, before a game. It’s intense and unforgettable – and it’s not just for sport! Even the country’s Defence Force embraces it.
Fun fact: In Māori mythology, a character named Tane-rone—the son of the sun god and the goddess of summer—would dance for his mother. That bright summer ahead? It’s said to be from his moves! And that famous shaking hand movement in the haka? It comes from his dance too.
New Zealand isn’t just beautiful – it’s full of deep stories and traditions. I can’t wait to learn more!
Don’t miss the White Coffee
New Zealand says they invented the flat white! Yup, that smooth, creamy coffee we all love might’ve been born in an Auckland café. Aussies might try to claim it too, but the debate is real. Either way, it’s a must-try while you’re there.
Bargaining? Nah
We get it, clashes is a thing in a lot of places, but in NZ… not so much. It’s cool to ask nicely if there’s a discount, but full-on bargaining? Kinda awkward. Keep it chill.
Tipping – Do You Need To?
Tipping isn’t a big deal in NZ. It’s not expected unless someone really goes above and beyond. If you feel like showing love, go for it – just know it’s more of a nice gesture than a rule.
Fun Fact: One of my friends asked for a juice without saying “please,” and got hit with a solid “Excuse me?” So yeah, New Zealanders really appreciate manners. Want to fit in and get good vibes? Learn these 3 golden words: Sorry, Please & Thank you – total game-changers!
