Eligibility Requirements for Indian Students

  • Bachelor’s Degree
    • A recognized Bachelor’s degree (3 or 4 years, depending on the university and program).
    • Most German universities require a minimum of 60–75% or equivalent CGPA, but the exact requirement varies by university and course.
  • APS Certificate
    • Mandatory for Indian applicants applying for higher education in Germany. The APS certificate verifies the authenticity of academic documents.
  • Language Proficiency
    • English-taught programs: Usually IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 90+ (some universities accept IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80, while top universities may require higher scores).
    • German-taught programs: Generally require B2 or C1 German (depending on the university and program).
  • Standardized Tests
    • GRE/GMAT are NOT mandatory for most German universities.
    • They are required only by certain universities or specific programs, mainly in Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance, or Management.
  • Academic Record
    • No active/pending backlogs at the time of admission.
    • Universities may accept students with previous backlogs if they have successfully cleared them, subject to the institution’s policy.

Application Process for Indian Students (Germany)

  1. Obtain an APS Certificate
    • The APS (Academic Evaluation Centre) Certificate is mandatory for most Indian students applying for higher education in Germany.
    • Your academic documents are verified through the APS India process. The certificate is generally required before applying to universities and for the student visa.
  2. Identify Suitable Universities and Programs
    • Research programs that match your academic profile using the DAAD, university websites, or uni-assist (if applicable).
