Many universities, particularly Universities of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschulen), include mandatory or optional internships as part of their curriculum. Depending on the programme, internships typically last 3 to 6 months, allowing students to gain valuable industry experience and improve their employability.

Case 1: Germany Undergraduate Admission Pathway for Indian Students (Private Universities)

- Minimum 70% overall in Class 12 (current APS guideline for undergraduate applicants from Winter Semester 2026/27).

Case 2: Direct Bachelor's Admission to German Public Universities via the "13th Year"
- Eligibility:
- Completed 12th standard (Higher Secondary) plus at least one successful year of a recognized bachelor’s degree in India in a related field.
- Good academic performance is recommended (typically 60%+, though many universities prefer higher scores depending on the program).
- Key Features:
- The additional year of bachelor’s study may satisfy Germany’s 13-year higher education entrance qualification (HZB) requirement for many applicants.
- If the qualification is recognized, Studienkolleg is generally not required.
- Eligibility depends on the university, the course, and recognition of your qualifications.

Required for students whose school qualification is not directly equivalent to the German Abitur and therefore does not qualify them for direct university admission. - Admission Requirements for Studienkolleg:
- German language proficiency (usually B1 or B2, depending on the institution)
- Entrance examination (typically includes German language and, depending on the course, subject-specific tests such as Mathematics for T-Kurs or Economics for W-Kurs)
- Required Documents:
- 12th Standard mark sheet and certificate
- German language certificate (B1/B2, as required)
- APS Certificate (for applicants from India)
- Valid passport
- Certified translations of academic documents (if required)
- Outcome:
After successfully passing the Feststellungsprüfung (FSP), students become eligible to apply for bachelor’s programs at German public universities in the corresponding field of study.
