About University of Robert Gordon

University of Robert Gordon traces its origin back to 1720, when Robert Gordon retired to Aberdeen. On his death 11 years latter he willed his entire estate to build a residential school for educating young boys. In summers of 1750 Robert Gordon Hospital was born. In 1881 this was converted into a day school known as Robert Gordon’s College. Many of its classes were organized after consultation with Aberdeen Mechanic’s Institute. In 1884 whole educational work of Aberdeen Mechanic Institute was transferred to the college. At same time John Gray local businessman opened the school of science & art. This school was opened in 1885.In 1903 Scotch Education Department designated the vocational courses work of college and central institution. The name Robert Gordon’s Institute of Technology as it was popularly known was adopted in 1965.In 1992 it was awarded the status of university and was known as University of Robert Gordon.
Campuses
University of Robert Gordon has two main campuses. Main campuses of University of Robert Gordon are following:
- Garthdee Campus: This campus has grown rapidly. It provides facilities which aim to improve the student experience.
- Schoolhill Campus: This campus is based in city centre. It is a home of several administration departments as well as school of engineering & pharmacy.
