About the University of Queen's University of Belfast
Study in Queen`s
Queen’s University of Belfast was founded by Queen Victoria. Queen’s University of Belfast traces its origin from Belfast Academical Institution. Belfast Academical Institution was formed in 1810. In 1845 University was known as Queen’s College Belfast. It was made up of three colleges- Cork, Galway & Belfast. These colleges became part of Queen’s University of Ireland which was formed to impart higher education. In 1879 it was renamed as Royal University of Ireland. In 1908 Irish Universities Act dissolved the Royal University of Ireland. This act created two separate universities: National University of Ireland and Queen’s University of Belfast.



International Programmes

Queen’s University of Belfast provides International Programmes for International Students. Main International Programmes are following:

Foundation Year Programme: This programme is for those International Students who do not have required English level for studying from Queen’s University of Belfast. Successful completion of this course will enable International Students to study undergraduate engineering or computer science programmes. This programme help International Students to develop there English language and other necessary skills required for higher studies.

Pre-Sessional Courses: This course is for those international Students who want to improve there level of English before staring the main course. Duration of this course depends upon English level of students. This course is of duration of three, six or twelve weeks.


Sports and Activities

Queen’s University of Belfast is highly concerned about the health of its students. Queen’s University of Belfast provides both recreational and competitive sports to its students. Queen’s University of Belfast’s playing field consists of 17 pitches for rugby, association football, Gaelic football, hockey and hurling. There are also three netball courts, nine tennis courts and an athletic arena. Queen’s University of Belfast has Physical Education Centre. This centre is equipped with squash courts and several climbing walls. Queen’s University of Belfast has Student Union .It is the hub of student’s life. It is an organization of the students, for the students and by the students. It provides wide range of social and welfare activities to its students. Student union provides access to societies and clubs. It is the place where one can relax from busy schedule of studies.


Location and Weather

Queen University Belfast is located in the capital city Northern Ireland which is part of U.K .It is situated at a distance of 15 minutes walk from city centre. Belfast is easily accessible by air. From London it is approximately at a distance of one hour. In Northern Ireland one can find all the four seasons. It is always advisable to bring warm clothes like long overcoat, cap, gloves etc for winters.
