About University of Queen Mary
Queen Mary University of London originated with merger of four old colleges: Queen Mary College, Westfield College, St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College and London Hospital Medical College. In 1989 Queen Mary merged with Westfield College to form Queen Mary & Westfield College. In London Hospital Medical College teaching began in 1785, but it did not became part of Queen Mary until 1995.In same year two medical schools merged together to form school of Medicine & Dentistry at Queen Mary & Westfield college, but barts and London to some extent retained its own identity. In 2000 college adopted its present title of Queen Mary, University of London.
Queen Mary University of London has five campuses. They are following:
- Mile End Campus: This campus is only few yards from the bustle of Mile End Road.
- Whitechapel Campus: This campus is located in east London. It is situated behind the Royal London Hospital in a multi-ethnic community.
- Charterhouse Square Campus: This campus is based in city of London close to Barbican. This campus is situated at few minutes walk from Bartholomew’s Hospital.
- Lincoln’s Inn fields Campus: This campus is situated in heart of London in Holborn, close to courts of justice and many national and International law firms.
- West Smithfield Square Campus:M This campus is based in city of London within historic St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
Sports and Activities

Queen Mary University of London takes care of physical well being of students. Queen Mary University of London provides some great sports facilities for its students. There are two information points in university where one can get information regarding sports activities. They are Health & Fitness centre and other is Student Union office on the ground floor of Feilden House. Queen Mary University of London has brand new state of art health & fitness centre. This centre is equipped with cardio vascular zone, dedicated stretching areas & free weight areas. There are two studio’s, gym for ladies, squash court & sports hall. They have fully qualified instructors who are there to help students in getting in good shape. Student Union also provides wide range of sports clubs for students. Student Union provides traditional sports team like hockey, football, rugby etc. All sports teams of Queen Mary University of London compete in both the British university sports association (BUSA) and University of London leagues. Men’s Cricket, Badminton, Rugby & Women’s Basketball Team won there BUSA leagues .Student Union also provide bars to students. It is the place where they can relax. Draper’s bar is the best student entertainment venue of students in country. Queen Mary, University of London has National Union of Students (NUS) .This union provides discounts on shops, theatre and cinemas in London.

Queen Mary, University of London is situated in the heart of east end, an area of London with rich past. Today it has become most vibrant & exciting area. Weather is very notorious. It keeps on changing very frequently. It is advisable to bring warm clothes for winters.
