About the University of Durham
The third oldest university in England after Oxford and Cambridge University Durham University is a world class university with two campuses - one in the city of Durham and the other at Queen's Campus in Stockton. However, both the universities showcase Durham university's commitment towards high quality teaching and learning .Durham university is collegiate, with colleges providing residential, social and welfare facilities for their student members. The university's main functions are divided between the central departments of the University and 16 colleges. The departments are entrusted with performing research and providing centralized lectures to students, whereas the colleges are responsible for the domestic arrangements and welfare of undergraduate students, graduate students, post-doctoral researches and some University staff. The decision regarding student admissions rests with the colleges.

Sports & Other Activities

Durham city is situated 13 miles (21 km) to the south west of Sunderland, England.
Durham City is the main campus of the university and contains 14 of the 16 colleges along with most of the academic departments. The city campus is divided into several different sites like the science site, the library etc.
The second campus is Queen's campus is located in the town of Stockton-on-Tees some 30 minutes away from the Durham City Campus .The Queen's campus around 2,000 full-time students, two residential colleges (John Snow and Stephenson Colleges) and the Wolfson Research Institute.
