About the University of Brunel
Brunel University is formed in 1960s. It is a world-class university based in Uxbridge, West London. In 1957 they decided to divide college in two sections – Acton Technical College and Brunel College of Technology. In 1961 it was awarded and enjoyed the status of College of Advanced Technology. It was only the 10th Advanced Technology College in the country, and there is no university later on which enjoyed this status. Its higher education is both market-oriented and politically conservative, due to this Brunel university has been in controversy. In recent years Brunel’s rank is at height. Due to the university's high teaching quality students performed well in both research and education sector. Brunel performed well in both The Guardian and The Times Table also.
Campus And Facilities
Uxbridge campus of Brunel University is situated in a best location, which is easily approachable by bus, train or taxi. At the western edge of London in south-east England, there are several bus routes that can take you to the campus, which is situated on the edge of the London. Uxbridger’s can avail a wide range of facilities, amenities and services, such as the Lecture Centre, which has lecture theatres and where exhibitions and seminars are held; the modernistic Bannerman Centre with an elegant cafe that offers outdoor seating arrangement and a fully air-conditioned auditorium known as the Howell Theatre, it has capacity of 425 people and latest audio visual equipments. There is 24-hour security and a medical centre on campus too along with mini-market, pharmacy and bank services. There is a fully functional Hospitality suite and Food Hall in the distinctive Hamilton Centre building. Students can also use support services including photocopying and fax. Entertainment facilities include a licensed bar, fitness suite and sports facilities.
Osterley Campus
If you are sports lover, either occasionally or on regular basis, then one can find excellent indoor sports and recreation centre. University of Bradford provides sport facilities which are generally not found in other universities of U.K. Sports centre is situated in middle of main campus. There is large main hall for badminton, hockey, basketball, cricket other activities are available. A small gymnasium is also available. There is also standard Olympic weight training room and two squash courts. University also provides resident fitness instructors. University of Bradford is concerned about the health of its students. University has four doctors, three nurses & friendly support staff. Consultation and treatment of students are kept secret.
Other Facilities
Library building has huge range of books related to courses and general collection as well. It has more computer workstations and group study areas, an Assistive Technology Centre for disabled students. Residence facility is also very good. There are 34 halls of residence including a new residential complex that brings there on-campus accommodation up to 4,549 rooms. There is also New Health Sciences and Social Care building for the fitness and health of students.
