About University of Brighton
University of Brighton traces its origin back to 1859, when School of Art was formed. Followed by this Brighton Technical College was formed in 1897. Brighton School of Art and Brighton Technical College were merged in 1968 to form Brighton Polytechnic. Earlier degrees were awarded by external University of London. During 1960’s & 1970’s polytechnic degrees were awarded by Council for National Academic Awards. It was an organization responsible for monitoring the quality of degree at polytechnic. University of Brighton was awarded the status of University in 1992.
Campuses
University of Brighton has four main campuses. Main campuses of University of Brighton are following:
- Grand Parade Campus: This campus is an integral part of Brighton’s cultural & art scene.
- Moulsecoomb Campus: This campus is the administrative hub of University.
- Falmer Campus: This campus is situated at the edge of Brighton. This campus is known for its newly built accommodation and sports facilities.
- Eastbourne Campus: This campus is situated in the Meads area. This campus is approximately 20 miles from Brighton.
Sports and Activities

University of Brighton provides sports and recreational activities for students as well as staff. University of Brighton provides wide range of sports facilities to its students from competitive sports to fun sake. University of Brighton hosts fun day & charity day competitions for its students. University of Brighton is equipped with two gymnasiums suitable for badminton, basketball and volleyball, five football pitches, one rugby pitch, fitness room, artificial cricket wicket, cricket nets etc University of Brighton has student union. Location And Weather
University of Brighton is situated in southeast of U.K .University of Brighton is under an hour by rail from London and less then 30 minutes from London Gatwick Airport. Climate of U.K changes frequently. One never knows when it starts raining. It is always advisable to bring warm clothes like long over coat, gloves, cap etc along with them for winters.
